Happy Tuesday! Dr Kelly here.
Do I need a Thermography?
First let me explain what thermography is: Thermography is a screening tool for you to better understand your body. Thermal imaging displays the heat patterns of your body. The more active a section of your body is, the more heat is present. I.E if cells are dividing and multiplying & growing, they are more active, and the thermography will pick up that activity. If you have inflammation, the thermography will pick that up. Any abnormal activity may be a sign of disease in the body.
According to Illinois Thermography, thermograms provide early screening for inflammation, vascular and neurological changes, meaning you can often see conditions before they become disease. That is the reason I get a yearly thermography.
Some patients use thermography to COMPLEMENT their mammograms. A mammogram is an x-ray of your breast. Thermography cannot monitor any avascular changes in your body. It detects vascular changes.
In addition to identifying breast tissue changes, a thermography can monitor and detect Immune dysfunction, carpal tunnel syndrome, back pain, digestive issues.
It is a very simple process. There is no radiation. Digital pictures are taken by a technician as your stand in front of a thermal imaging camera. Your first image is used as a comparison for the second image taken within 3-4 months to establish a baseline. Once a baseline is established, yearly imagines are recommended.
Thermography is offered at Tree of Life Wellness Center the second Wednesday every 3 months. Our next one is Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
