Happy Tuesday! Dr. Kelly here. What are the best supplements to take?
What vitamins should I take is a question I get asked.
The answers vary from person to person.
Show of hands, how many here take supplements?
When I ask a patient if they take a supplement, most tell me yes.
When I ask where they are buying it from, I get answers like Walgreens, Target, Costco, maybe even Whole Foods.
But how do you know if you are getting a great product? A safe product?
I have a patient whose family member became very sick after taking a supplement.
The liver started shutting down, very scary.
This supplement was purchased on Amazon. There is no way to determine if this happened because of the supplement. But it was right at the same time.
When you purchase physician quality supplements, you know that they have had rigorous third-party testing for purity, potency and safety.
They are made with high quality ingredients, designed for optimal bioavailability, typically formulated with therapeutic dosages to address specific health issues.
The biggest difference between physician grade supplements and over the counter supplements is the quality and efficacy of the ingredients.
Cost is another difference. A higher quality typically comes with a higher initial cost.
When you absorb the supplement better, your body can utilize it more efficiently. I.E. a bigger bang for your buck!
In the long run, it is worth the investment.
FullScript has physician quality supplements.
